It's hard to believe we got engaged almost 3 months ago. At the time I thought we had all the time in the world to plan the wedding, but time sure flew by. Now that we are about to get married, I will say, and most know.. that our very first date was PERFECT. We went for dinner, walked around the Riverside Country Club where he had helped design and work on the landscape - showing me a big part of who is he and what he loves.
Colin and I went ring shopping about 2 weeks before my UVU graduation in April. We had already talked about getting married in August but had yet to go ring shopping. He set an appointment at Goldsmiths Jeweler and we found the ring that day! I actually narrowed it down to a few rings, secretly wanting one of them:) His good friend's dad owns Goldsmiths and his friend was there that day to meet us after we "shopped." Colin and I took him to lunch afterwards and then the two of them headed back to the store for him to pick one and I waited at home.... Then i was left to wait. Only knowing that he would most likely be doing it before I left for Asia May 13th-ish. For something so big, it was hard to wait and I was just so excited. Our families knew it was coming and we actually booked the Bountiful Temple before we even got engaged because of siblings that lived in other countries or on the opposite side of the country, would need to make arrangements to come out.
5 days before I flew to California to meet up with Shelby and fly to Asia, Colin came down on the tuesday to hang out. I had no idea when it would happen that week so I wasn't getting any hopes up. He got to my apartment and told me he had a reservation up at Sundance. I obviously figured thats where he would do it.. but was hoping it would still be a surprise. As we drove he told me we were actually about an hour early and since we were driving by the Country Club anyway, he would call his friend Dale who is one of the managers to see if he was there so we could stop by and see some of the new landscaping and pool being put in. I didn't think much of it but we parked and started walking around the back. Checked out the pool... the sunset and walked around a bit. He took my phone to take some photos of the course, something that he always does and said that I should go up to the clock tower and check it out because he "had never been up there before." He followed me up the stairs and my heart was racing. I was turned around looking at him with my back to the tower and realized he was filming me! He said something like "whats that behind you?" so I turned around and saw a table set for two with flowers and a little card. I turned back around to him and he was down on one knee:) From there it all happened so fast. He asked me to marry him.. I said yes, of course:) We smooched.. hugged... and then sat down for dinner as his friend Dale came out with a lady and brought us food. It was delicious and such a GREAT moment. Right at sunset:)
He made the night perfect and I just felt like the luckiest girl in the world and on cloud nine.. I still do:) I am so excited to marry him and start my forever with such a good, good man. He has a heart of gold and I'm grateful and so blessed he chose ME!:) I love him dearly and have never been treated so well by anyone. I'm the luckiest girl in the world!
