This morning I ran my 2nd half marathon!!!!!:) My first half was like 3 years ago. It had been a LONG time. Truthfully, I didn't train that much either. I trained for the Ragnar in June, and hadn't run more then 7 miles since then - until I ran 9 last thursday just so I could prove to myself I could do it. I figured if I can run 9, I can run 13.1. I had a lovely bowl of spaghetti last night for dinner to take in some good carbs, and then this morning Mandi Harris picked me up at 6 am and we headed to Spanish Fork!
The race started at 7. I felt really good about my run, and kept a good pace. By mile 8 I couldn't believe I had already run that far. It went by pretty fast! The remaining 5 miles went by fast as well. Sure there were times I was sore, hungry and tired but I just kept running and those feelings would fade away. I was so grateful that I spent a bunch of money on a garmin GPS watch back in july because it really helped push me. I knew my pace and could pick up speed when I needed to and I wasn't stuck guessing how far I had run. It was also really nice they had a marker for each mile - I started my watch a bit after we had started so I loved seeing the mile marker say I had run further then what I had thought.
Mandi got first in her age group:) She did AWESOME!!!! We crossed paths I think just once while running, so I was excited when she was there to cheer me on the last stretch of the run. I sprinted the last little bit to cross the finish line. It felt great! It was a decent course - not too hard.
It was really fun to do it with a friend and I'm so glad Mandi was willing to sign up with me! I think we both had a really great time. Next up: the Dirty Dash and then the Park City "Pink Half Marathon." Oh how I love to run.
