Today my wonderful mother took me to the hospital at 7 in the morning. I was poked numerous times in my arms by a nurse that could not get the I.V. into a vein. It HURT!! I have this nervous laugh when I'm scared, or obviously... nervous about something. The laugh kicked in, and some water began to build up in my eyes. For someone that hates and is scared of needles( I know i'm a baby), this was not a pleasing experience. She kept trying and finally one of the anesthesiologists came over to talk to me before they took me in and said he would take care of it once they wheeled me to the operating room. They wheeled me into the room and there were a number of nurses and a new doctor that would be assisting Dr. Lin from South Africa. Once again, the anesthesiologists tried putting the I.V. into both of my arms, but NO success. They just could not get it into a vein. He then decided to try putting it into the top side of my left foot and FINALLY it worked and went in quite easily, but hurt even more then my arms being poked. They injected the anesthesia and I was out. I guess the surgery for both underarms took around 30 minutes to make a fairly small incision, suction, and stitch me back up. Not too bad:) I think i woke up about 2 hours later in my bed all by myself. My mom came in after not too long and they brought me some ginger ale. I was sore but have some cool hospital bracelets on my wrist now. Here are some pictures... don't mind the double chin and paleness. I look like crap.
I came home and slept for a few more hours, and my arm pits are really sore so I've just taken it easy and didn't do anything. Hopefully tomorrow I can go out and do more. I am loving being home so far, I just can't believe tomorrow is the 5th!!!
